-
Educate parents and communities that early childhood development is crucial to the success of children in school.
-
Give parents knowledge, skills, tools, and confidence in their role as their child's best first teacher.
-
Lead other collaborative activities through programs such as "Reach Out and Read" and "First Book".
-
Provide a process for early identification of children's physical and developmental needs.
How We Do It
-
Personal Visits - Personalized home visits by certified parent educators. Educators are trained in child development and offer practical tips on ways to encourage learning, manage challenging behavior, and promote strong parent-child relationships.
-
Group Meetings - Parents come together to gain new insights and to share their experiences, common concerns, and successes. They also provide families opportunities to participate in parent-child activities and socializations.
-
Screenings - Yearly screenings of overall development, language, hearing, and vision for all children enrolled in PAT. This ensures early detection of potential problems thus preventing difficulties later in school.
-
Resources - Families in need of additional services receive guidance to access community resources.
